Areas of Specialty: Eastern Europe
I have been traveling to Europe for over 20 years. I found myself drawn to Eastern Europe…Holland/Belgium/France/Germany. I was fortunate enough to live a total of 6 yrs there. I spent one year in Amsterdam and lived within 1 block of Vondel Park, the biggest natural park within the city limits of Amsterdam. My favorite museum in all of Europe is located here…the Rijksmuseum…hours and hours of Flemish and Dutch masterpiece are displayed in this splendid, remarkable, recently renovated fortress. Without a doubt, the crowning masterpiece has to be Rembrandt’s ‘Night Watch’ housed in one room completely by itself! The Anne Frank house is also a must as is the Van Gosh museum and as well, the original Heineken factory is now open after a 3 yr. rennovation for your enjoyment!
I spent 3 yrs in the beautiful city of Brugge, Belgium which is considered ‘the Venice of the North’. In my humble opinion, it is the most beautiful of medieval cities in all of Belgium, if not, arguably, in all of Europe. The city centre is actually closed now to cars- horse drawn carriages are abundant but walking within Brugge is simply incredible. Without a doubt, the best chocolate I’ve ever had was handmade in Brugge www.thechocolateline.be and it certainly is a delight and a worthwhile hour train ride from Brussels to escape to this well-kept secret. Oh! Be sure to keep an eye out for the elders hand making lace outside their shops on the weekend as well as the local market, complete with everything from exotic birds to local home-baked specialties. Even though Dutch is the main language, the majority of the people in Brugge speak Flemish (a dutch dialect). As they say in Brugge…Angenaam! (Nice to meet you!)
Cruises:
I guess, because, as a child I was so drawn to anything that floated on water, without a doubt, that carried over in my adult life and as of Nov. 27, 2010, I embarked on my 23rd cruise onboard the newly created Eclipse with Celebrity Cruises. Owned by Royal Caribbean and operating their 20th year, there is no doubt in my mind now why this cruise line won most accolades of 2010! The crew to passenger ratio is 3 to 1…the service is quite unbelievably top notch and the food is creatively awesome! For me, it was a much needed, relaxed elegance, portrayed onboard while on my 7 day Caribbean journey…my former cruises range from 3 to 14 days from such cruise lines as Norwegian, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Premier, The Big Red Boat, American Hawaii Cruises as well as many local cruises, i.e. Helsinki to Tallin, Calais to Dover, Helsinki to Stockholm. Recently asked my opinion of the most scenic cruise I’ve ever taken,(I’ve been fortunate enough to partake 4 times) and in my humble opinion, hands down, is the Greek Islands…overwhelming and simply breathtaking! It would be my pleasure to help in any way to make your cruise dreams a reality…
Las Vegas:
Wow! What does one say about Vegas that hasn’t already been said? Gaudy, elegant, glitzy, action-packed, non-stop, contemporary..there are many ways to describe this 24/7 city! Although once a year suffices for me, this Disneyland for adults is well worth the time to just wander and be amazed! I’ve been in almost every hotel on the strip…I think the new Cosmopolitan and Planet Hollywood Towers are the only two I can recall that I must visit on my next venture there! My favorite top 3 hotels there are Caesar’s, Aria and New York New York! Oh! And be sure to take a quick elevator to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower for sunset cocktails and hor d’ouevres at the Paris hotel! Enjoy! and Bon Chance!
